Lynette Bowen

04-27-2003: Lynette Bowen is, as a song from her Texas Earthtribe community goes, a “Son of Red Earth, dancing on her face, a Daughter of the Waters, healed by the Trees, a Child of the Light, sent from above, held by Earth’s love, my identity.” Interested in a spiritual path from the time she was a small child, Lynette branched out from her Christian background in the mid-90’s to explore a nature-based spiritual path. This she discovered through a small, ecumenical, psycho-spiritual community called the Earth Tribe. Through sweat lodges, vision quests, and life experiences she started on a quest to understand who she really was and learn what it meant to dream the dream of her life. Besides being a local published poet, artist, and mother of two daughters, she recently bought Pachamama Press, which is dedicated to supporting Mother Earth through projects like its quarterly newsletter, Earth Stories. Through the use of stories, poetry, artwork, and photography, Earth Stories shares people’s experiences with the Earth and the impact these encounters have on their lives. Her topic today will show how this type of storytelling can reconnect us with the Earth, which, in turn, benefits our relationships with each other and the world we live in.
