Gordon Broussard
04-07-2002: Gordon Broussard returns to Carmel by popular request!! Being a friend to Carmel since the 1980’s, it is a great pleasure to have him return as Guest Speaker! Gordon, a psychotherapist with a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.Ed. in Counseling, has worked in the mental health field for 26 years. Practicing meditation for 36 years, Gordon shares with us that “The Self is always as it is. There is no such thing as attaining it (or, therefore, Realization). All that is necessary is to give up regarding the ‘not Self’ as Real. When we give up identifying ourselves with the body (ego), the Self alone remains (Ramana Maharshi).” Gordon continues, “Both my reading and my experience indicate that the teaching in this line is primarily a silent one. It is the energy—the heart—which transforms. All that words do is to stir up more thoughts. Transformation does not occur rapidly. One can face the aspects of one’s life for the rest of their life while being transformed.” Gordon will expand on this in his talk today.
