May 18, 2008 Dr Hansa Medley is a member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), popularly known as the Hare Krishna Movement. She serves on the Management Council of ISKCON and is the Director of Outreach. She also serves as a pujari (priest), cook & teacher, for both adults and children. Since 1986, she has been involved with community food programs for the underprivileged, providing nutritious vegetarian meals. Dr Medley is a Board certified internist in solo practice in West Houston. She has a keen interest in integrative & holistic care. She is a member of the community Advisory Group, “Indian & Hindu Perspectives on Genetic Variation Research”, a project o the national human Genome Research Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She serves on the boards of the Women’s Steering Committee, Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston and the Decade of Non-violence. In addition, she serves as an instructor with the Yoga Association of Houston. Her topic will be: “How I became a Hare Krishna”, the basic tenets of the Hare Krishna faith and her personal journey.
