Kelley Ogden
05-22-2005: Kelley Ogden is an accomplished performer, writer, and activist. She has a B.F.A. in Performance from The Theater School at DePaul University in Chicago and has won awards for her writing on social issues since the age of 12. In late March 2005, Kelley participated with over 14,000 people online to create a declaration against the Iraq War, in the spirit of Martin Luther King’s “Beyond Vietnam” speech. From among all the participants, Kelley was voted the consensus leader and gave the speech at Riverside Church in New York City on April 4, 2005, 38 years to the day after MLK’s speech at Riverside, as part of a progressive religious rally against the war. This experience has profoundly changed her life by forcing a re-evaluation of spiritual violence, from the global to the personal. Today Kelley will share the declaration and thoughts on the blessings that have come through her experience with this project.
