December 16 - Clint Spencer is a Houston writer and actor whose poetry has seen publication in books and magazines nationally. He is married to Linda Koffel, who is also a writer and regular speaker at Carmel. Clint has a B.A. in Spanish (cum laude).A long time friend and attendee at Carmel Temple, he holds regular classes in Yoga and Meditation here and has for many years. Today his talk is “The Living Altar Within: The Atman,” in which he discusses the power of meditation to open our awareness of our inner Self—“the soul,” or, to use the term found in the Upanishads, “The Atman.” In his talks at Carmel, Clint calls upon his studies in religion and his own experience, maintaining that the Inner Light is not merely a metaphor for intellectual understanding, but a phenomenon as real as, say, an apple slice you eat. “Taste and see,” he would say in echo of the Psalm. And in the end, that’s what it’s all about.
