03-06-2005: Cynthia van der Smissen, D.D., R.M.T, owner of A Quiet Place Centre for Healing and Wellness, maintains one of the most successful Massage Therapy practices in the Houston area. In addition to the state required hours, she has completed hundreds of hours training with many of the top institutions and instructors in the state. She is certified in Soft Tissue Mobilization and Myofascial Release and has done over 9,500 Therapeutic Bodywork Sessions. She also holds a diploma in Medical Assisting. She began her practice of Massage Therapy almost 10 years ago and is a Professional Level Member of ABMP (Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals). She is a member of Temple Beth Tikvah-Reform Jewish Congregation in Clear Lake. Cynthia is a monthly columnist for the Indigo Sun magazine and is completing her new book, The Dreamer & The Healer. This year Cynthia and her husband, Dr. Marv Shippey, D.C., joined the staff of the Houston School of Massage.
