Nance Wier
01-18-98: Nance Wier has her Master’s degree in Education and Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and English. Well credentialed, she is quite qualified in her role as teacher. She has taught at Houston’s C. G. Jung Center, named for the famous psychotherapist who linked awareness of the spiritual and the inner life to psychological growth. Experienced in focusing on body awareness and the arts, Nance has been a YWCA volunteer and has served as youth director for St. James Episcopal Church in Houston. Teaching breathing techniques that help deepen your meditations, Nance enjoys sharing what others have taught her. Her main theme centers around combining the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional, in which she believes breath brings it all together. Nance describes it this way: “Deep breathing led me first to silence, or what you could call deep stillness. Then I learned this was an effective method to use for achieving deep meditative levels of conscious. This procedure then could be further combined with movement, with motion being expressed as an outer experience of tranquility.” She describes meditation and prayer as being the BREATH OF LIFE, and her ability to present mediative prayer helps to span traditional barriers between churches and different denominations. We look forward to Nance’s presentation at Carmel Temple.
